About the book

Oír is not escuchar: hearing is undergone, listening is an act. The whole Tomatis Method lies in that gap, and Patrick Dumas de la Roque makes it the thread of his book. A clinical psychologist trained by Tomatis, he offers here a hundred and fifty pages that read straight through — the theory first (the Tomatis laws, the functions of the ear, listening in the womb, the listening test, Mozart), then the clinical work, through real cases: failure at school, autism, adoption, singing, modern languages, pregnancy, depression, Ménière’s vertigo.
